The Autism Psychology Centre has a strict policy on cancellation or no-show appointments. We require at least 48-hours notice in order to offer appointments to other clients on the waiting list. Missed appointments, reschedules, and late cancellations (less than 48-hours notice) will be subject to a cancellation fee of 100% of the scheduled fee. This charge cannot be claimed through Medicare or your Private Health fund. The cancellation fee is deducted automatically at the time of cancellation, from your stored account details. Should there be multiple late cancellations or no-shows, the Autism Psychology Centre reserves the right to terminate our services and no further appointments will be scheduled for you.
Medicare: Mental Health Care Plan
Some psychological therapy and assessment services are eligible for partial rebates from Medicare. The mental health care plan must be obtained through a General Practitioner (GP), or Psychiatrist. It is appreciated if this paperwork is forwarded by post or email prior to your first consultation to assist with the administration of your billing.
The plan allows you to claim a rebate of $124.50 for up to 10 sessions in a calendar year. A review by the referring GP or Psychiatrist is required after the first 6-sessions. Rebates will not be issued without the 6 session GP review.
To receive the clinical psychology rebate of $124.50, the service must be eligible for a rebate, the client will need to provide both a copy of the referral letter, and the mental health care plan.
PLEASE NOTE: The Mental Health Care Plan does not cover the assessment of Autism Spectrum Disorders. The plan also does not cover specific counselling of Autism (as ASD is not defined as a mental health disorder), but it does cover frequently observed mental health issues such as anxiety disorders, mood disorders, adjustment, grief and loss, and trauma.
Private Health Insurance rebates
Some psychological therapy services may be eligible for rebates through your Private Health Insurance. Please contact your insurance provider to confirm your eligibility for rebates. Upon payment of your fees you will be provided with a receipt that you can submit to your health insurer for a rebate.
Clients must determine whether they are going to claim their consultation/assessment fees through either one of the Medicare programs or their Private Health fund. Please note that Private Health funds vary widely in the amount of rebate that can be claimed and you should contact your insurer about this. You are unable to use Medicare and your Private Health insurance for the same consultation.
